Parcel Pieces (2015)
When given the opportunity to propose a design for square quarter mile sized block in China we were a bit flummoxed. The super block is common in the mass development of cities in China, blocks of a massive scale are developed around a common green with towers at the perimeter. This green is costly to maintain as a perfect lawn, as well as not particularly useful. It is not really a designed space, just the necessary space to give the other towers enough sunlight. What if greenspace weren't an afterthought? What if pedestrians were favored over cars?
